Coronary Angiography (CAG)
What is Coronary Angiography (CAG)?
Coronary Angiography (also called CAG) is a specialized test that shows whether your heart’s arteries are blocked or narrowed. It is done using a contrast dye and X-ray imaging to visualize the coronary arteries — the blood vessels that supply your heart.
It is the gold standard test for diagnosing coronary artery disease (CAD), and helps doctors decide whether you need angioplasty, bypass surgery, or medication-based management.
At Nidaan Heart Clinic, Vadodara, we perform angiography with precision and care, using advanced equipment and expert cardiologists.

Who Needs a Coronary Angiography?
You may be advised to undergo a CAG if you have:
-
Chest pain, pressure, or tightness (angina)
-
Abnormal TMT, ECG, or ECHO findings
-
Shortness of breath or unexplained fatigue
-
Suspected blockages in heart arteries
-
High risk due to diabetes, high BP, or cholesterol
-
History of heart attack or cardiac event
-
Evaluation before heart surgery or angioplasty
✅ Even if your symptoms seem mild, CAG can detect hidden blockages before they become dangerous.
-
You are taken to the Cath Lab and given mild sedation
-
A catheter (thin tube) is inserted into the wrist or groin artery
-
A contrast dye is injected into your heart’s arteries
-
Real-time X-ray images (angiograms) are taken to check for blockages
-
The procedure usually takes 15–30 minutes
-
If a severe blockage is found, angioplasty can sometimes be done in the same sitting (after consent)
🛏️ After the procedure, you’ll be monitored for a few hours and may go home the same day or next morning, depending on your condition.
